The Anaconda returns

Finally back on stage: our anaconda, devouring a capybara. Freshly cleaned and restored, the large constrictor snake and its prey can be admired in a newlydesigned display environment. Since February 2023, the two almost 100-year-old visitors’ favorites had been relegated to the workshop of Senckenberg taxidermist Udo Becker, where desiccation cracks and old damage were professionally restored with the support of conservators from the Städel Museum Frankfurt, among others. The new display case now protects the specimens fromdestructive influences using a permanent humidity control system. The project was realized with the help of numerous donations, and Senckenberg wants to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed!
