Collaborative Museum Practice: Practice Laboratories

Summer 2024 – Winter 2025/26

What kind of museum would we like to see in the future as an interface between society and research? Which stories do we tell, and whose stories are they? In the coming years, the Senckenberg Natural History Museum Frankfurt will not only be remodeled in terms of space, it will also reposition itself regarding its content. This encompasses discursivity, participation, and involvement as well as the museum as a place for democratic dialogue to develop proposals and solutions for a sustainable future. To initiate this process, the Natural History Museum is organizing several practice labs with stakeholders from society and museum experts. Perspectives from design, architecture and culture will also be incorporated. The focus is on participation processes and the sustainability of museum work, the conceptual design, and organization of exhibitions and projects.

The practice laboratories are generously supported by the Crespo Foundation.
