Thanks to the support of the Dr. Wolfgang and Sigrid Berner Foundation, specially designed programs for students at special education schools can be implemented.
All programs are tailored to the needs of students with special needs and are developed in collaboration with special education teachers.
Guided Tours for Special Education Schools
An initial tour concept for students in special education was developed as early as 2022 as part of the “Research Inspirations” project (with support from the Dr. Wolfgang and Sigrid Berner Foundation, the Erhard Kunert Foundation, and the Albert and Barbara von Metzler Foundation). This concept was developed in collaboration with the “Department of Didactics of the Life Sciences” at Goethe University Frankfurt, as well as teachers and students training to teach at special education schools.

Workshops for Special Education Schools
Since 2024, we have expanded our offerings for students in special education to include the workshop at the Aha?! Science Lab “We Research.” This workshop is suitable for students in grades 3–9. Using exciting objects and simple tasks, the workshop encourages independent (yet always supervised) discovery and “exploration”—and demonstrates, in a simplified way, how scientists go about their work.
The guided tour and workshop are designed for special education schools focusing on “learning,” but are also suitable for students with special needs in the areas of “cognitive development,” “social-emotional development,” or “physical-motor development.”
Upon request, we also offer the guided tour and workshop for students with special needs in the area of “vision.”
Special education schools in the Frankfurt metropolitan area can take advantage of these programs free of charge thanks to support from the Dr. Wolfgang and Sigrid Berner Foundation (admission fees and charges for guided tours and workshops are waived).
