Catastrophe in Film - Fact Check

14. July 2021 until 9. January 2022

“At the start of every disaster film, there is a scientist that is ignored” – so says the prominent internet meme. But how exactly is science depicted in these films and what of the catastrophes? Are they depicted realistically or fantastically?

In five stationed videotaped interviews of the Senckenberg permenant exhibition, various scientists add their commentry on famous movie-theatre catasptrophes – including defect dinosaur amusement parks, earthquakes, vulcano eruptions, meteorite impacts, and even mutated giant lizards!

These video stations complement the exhibition at the DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum.
