Forests.
From Romanticism to the Future

An exhibition presented by the German Romanticism Museum, the Senckenberg Natural History Museum in Frankfurt, and the Sinclair-Haus Museum.

The video for the exhibition

The forest as a haven for biodiversity, a place of longing for humans, and a subject of both art and the natural sciences: all of this is explored in an exhibition presented by the German Romanticism Museum, the Senckenberg Natural History Museum in Frankfurt, and the Sinclair-Haus Museum in Bad Homburg. The multi-part, transdisciplinary exhibition project by the three museums spans the Romantic era through the present and into the future.

Scientific findings from Senckenberg Research engage in a dialogue with the Romantic understanding of nature as well as with older and more recent artistic perspectives. An extensive accompanying program invites visitors to explore the forest through the museum’s “Aha?! Research Workshop,” as well as via a mobile station and guided walks throughout the city. The project is generously supported by the German Federal Cultural Foundation, the Crespo Foundation, the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain, the Stiftung Polytechnische Gesellschaft Frankfurt am
Main, and other sponsors. A “3-Forest Ticket” for the exhibitions at the three participating museums is available at the museum ticket office.
